Day 21: The Happiness Project

Switzerland iceland

Last night was the Eurovision Song Contest. Or at least that’s what it was called when I first heard of it, 20-odd years ago. It might just be Eurovision now. It’s still weird enough to make me feel quite foreign when watching it.

Those kooky Europeans.

A lot of the acts were purely formulaic and/or bombastic but a few made me feel genuinely happy and excited to discover. I like finding new music that excites and stimulates and makes everything feel fresh again. It happens less and less as I get older and I keep trying to keep the palate fresh. I really don’t want to stagnate and to have my musical selections atrophy simply because I’m no longer in my 20s and going to too many clubs and festivals. I used to go out, you know.

I’ll have to get Oscar some ear protector headphones so we can go to some summer festivals this year. Pink ones, so there’s no mistaking him for a boy. Wouldn’t want that to happen.
